The environment that a child is born into is more than just a backdrop. It is a formative force that shapes their devel- opment, relationships, and self-identity. Being born into a hostile environment, whether it’s violence, neglect, poverty, or emotional turbulence, has a profound and lasting effect. These early circumstances develop a child’s immediate sense of danger or safety which will follow them into adulthood.
